This project came from student exploration with texture and
patternmaking during a clay unit.
Wassily Kandinsky's use of expressive painting, numerous
repetitions and abstract images were the inspiration for this
stage of the process.
The random pattern and designs in the clay became an
unusual matrix for a nonobjective project, in which students
had complete control of the outcome of their individual
pieces.
