Enfield Public Schools is pleased to announce that Sheree Winans has been selected as the 2024-25 Enfield Teacher of the Year.  Sheree Winans is a native of Enfield, CT and is in her 33rd year of teaching for Enfield Public Schools, where she has spent her entire career.  She started teaching at Henry Barnard Elementary School in 3rd grade, then spent 17 years teaching 4th grade at Thomas G. Alcorn Elementary School.  Currently, she is a 5th grade teacher at Prudence Crandall School.  Mrs. Winans received her elementary education degree from Boston College, her master’s in administration from Central Connecticut State University, and a 6th level in Elementary Education.

In addition to her involvement on school committees such as the Assembly Committee and 5th Grade Parent Committee as the teacher liaison, Mrs. Winans serves as the Intermediate Vice-President of the Enfield Teacher’s Association and as a TEAM mentor and cooperating teacher.  Outside of school, she is a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a women’s altruistic educational organization, and is the president of the Keith Winans Memorial Golf Tournament Committee, which raises money for scholar athletes and local charities.

Mrs. Winans is a very proud mom to her son, Jack, who is a sophomore at Sacred Heart University. She would like to thank her friend and colleague, Mrs. Karyn McManus, for nominating her for this award.

On behalf of the Enfield Teacher of the Year Committee and the entire Enfield Public Schools Family, we would like to congratulate Sheree on this distinction and wish her the best in her future pursuit at the state level.
